Chance, generating continues the trajectory initiated with the performance Wind Walk, where walking guided by the wind became a poetic gesture to break with the functional logics of urban space. In this new stage, the work moves into the exhibition space as a participatory installation, using chance and human / non-human interaction to question the frameworks of control that structure our societies. Rooted in a critique of Western technological and social systems—built on rationality, efficiency, and binary order—the project explores the cultural difficulty of embracing unpredictability as a vital part of existence.

The installation consists of wooden structures framing a large sheet of paper on the floor and wall, where hanging markers are set in motion by air currents generated by visitors using tools provided in the space. The resulting drawing is shaped by countless variables, the strength and direction of the wind, the presence and proximity of participants, even the tilt of the markers, turning the work into a collective act of creation. Over time, the paper becomes a physical record of shared experience, where author, audience, and environment merge, and the wind itself becomes a collaborator in resisting the dominance of human logic and control.

What begins as a gesture of resistance quickly becomes a desirable commodity in the cultural market. By adopting the aesthetics of squatting—long associated with anti-authoritarian movements—the installation raises an unsettling question: is it still possible to escape the cycles of absorption and revalorization that sustain late capitalism? Rather than simply pointing out the irony of a system that turns its opposition into trend, the work invites us to reconsider the relationship between space, power, and legitimacy. Who has the right to occupy, define, and reshape the urban landscape? If squatting, once a radical act, now feeds the very dynamics of speculation and exclusion it opposed, where can true disruption be found? Has resistance itself become just another currency in the economy of cultural production?

The three sculptures enter into a dialogue with a constant, unpredictable force of this place: the wind. Throughout the exhibition, they collaborate with the wind’s chance movements, creating a unique drawing that records this encounter.

This process invites us to reconsider how we can embrace chance and unpredictability, forces beyond human logic and control, and allow them to shape new ways of creating and being. It asks how we might inhabit the world not only through control, but by opening ourselves to what surrounds us, making space for the unforeseen to participate.

Photographies by Jeremy KnowlesSince ancient times the door has assumed strong symbolism, mostly related to rites of passage, crossing and transition from one place - or state of being - and another. The architectural installation Doppelganger focuses with irony and playfulness on the relationality between the “main entrance” and the “back door” of KHB Weissensee. With curious spirit, challenging hierarchies of power, we propose to look anew at the marginal and see how “passing through a back door” can act as a catalyst for creating alternate futures, unexpected outcomes or changes of scenery. In an imaginative play, a visual “changements de caractére”, the main entrance of KHB Weissensee is replicated on fabric - maintaining its original dimensions - and installed by the back door of the university: the concrete and stone architecture is thus rendered ephemeral and fragile.Furthermore, by using typical construction site elements like scaffolding, fabric, metal rivets and cable ties, we invite to reflect on what it means to construct, reconstruct and deconstruct, especially in a city with such complex and significant building history like Berlin.

The installation deals with the capitalistic mechanisms that are set in motion by the act of squatting. Exploring the ways in which spaces are claimed in Western society, it borrows the aesthetics from a squat,
an ultimate symbol of an anti-authoritarian movement, that starts off as a means of survival and then gets absorbed by the power dynamics of modern capitalism, inevitably taking its place in the violent cycle of gentrification. SQUATKIT 3000 is presented as the ultimate package for claiming spaces, within this context the kit can be used and displayed everywhere.

Parks emerged as a solution to this, seeking to connect city dwellers with nature again. But like all spaces within our cities, parks are subject to regulations and controls, making the flora that thrives in them strictly controlled. In this way the intervention seeks to "renovate" a small square of lawn by creating a hole filled with fertile soil, allowing different plants or species to develop in that place, thus retaking the public space.

In this context, the audience is invited to play the chess game presented in the installation. The game follows the same rules as the classic chess, but with one big difference: one player is allowed toplay only with a king and the pawns, while the other player has access to all the pieces. This change underscores the unequal distribution of power and the challenges faced by those who are at a disadvantage. The side of each player will be determined randomly, highlighting the realities of life where individuals do not choose the circumstances or the situations they find themselves in. People do not choose their positions of power or the tools they have at their disposal, and some grow up in better situations with more opportunities for success, while others do not.

In this series of drawings the movement of the metro during certain journeys
is used as a method of creation and development of the work. In this way, by
holding a marker and leaving the hand dead on a piece of paper, the movement
of the metro itself gradually creates the drawing. Depending on factors such as
the metro line used or the duration of the journey, the composition of the drawing
will change and, depending on the amount of movement, the lines will be thicker
or thinner.

Buff” is known as the act or result of removing graffiti. From the 1980s onwards
graffiti spread rapidly throughout Europe and became a worldwide cultural
movement. For authorities and governments the only way to fight graffiti was to
clean it up, which in most cases was very expensive and inefficient. In order to
cut costs and remove graffiti faster, they started to simply paint, usually with grey
or white, over the graffiti, creating abstract coloured stains (usually different from
the colour of the wall) with the sole purpose of censoring whatever is underneath.
In this process the council cleaners create a form based on formal decisions that
are previously given by the graffiti they want to remove, so we can understand
that in a way they are creating abstract paintings known today as Buffs. It is in
this context that this series is developed, using this method of cleaning as an
artistic method. In this way I invite my friends to paint on my canvases, where
I will later remove what they have done following the guidelines used to clean
graffiti in the street. In this sense, this series uses a process of creation in which
the formal decisions are made by a third person, so the artist only acts as a
“cleaner” who follows a previously defined pattern.

In the city of Berlin most people use bicycles as a means of transport. This piece
aims to capture these movements and routes by putting them down on paper,
where the wheels of the bicycles of passers-by and the dirt accumulated on
them leave a mark. To capture these marks, different pieces of paper have been
placed on the city’s bicycle lanes, leaving them there for a short period of time
until several bicycles have passed by and left their mark. In this way, a part of the
city, in this case the dust, dirt or rubber from the bicycles, is impregnated into the
paper, serving as a pigment to make a drawing on the support.

The idea of this painting starts after I did numerous wanders or random walks
around the city of Pontevedra, Spain. This way of discovering the city is something
that the Situationist used very often in their art works and performances, and
for me, was a way to get inspired and to understand the city from a different
perspective. During several months I did numerous walkings, always without
any fixed course or direction. After some point I start filming the routes that I
was doing with my phone, and this piece is the graphical representation of them.
Each line of the painting represent a walk, which first is drawn by myself with the
physical action of walking in a space and after is represented and painted on the
MDF. For this representation I used a sequence of seven colors, each one of
them representing a day of the week. The painting contains a total of 58 walks,
each one with a different duration, process and context.

Table 3 (camouflage series) mixed media, 223 x 120 cm
During the tours mentioned above I realised that some spaces in the city create
a kind of playground where people unconsciously participate, in this context I
started the series Camouflage. This work has a total of four DM boards that
were custom made and placed in empty spaces in the city and left there for 3
to 5 months. At first the boards were completely white and clean but over time
people started to intervene on them, so unconsciously the inhabitants became
an important part of the working process and little by little the DMs became part
of the space. In this way the artist’s power to make formal decisions about the
work is eliminated and the size of the wood is predefined depending on the place
it occupies. The boards capture their environment and the people who inhabit
it, the boards are part of the environment but also offer information about what
happens in it, transforming the space but also being transformed by it. In the end
I recovered three out of the four original tables.

Green, 208 x 113 cm
The monochrome has been used in the history of art to break with the classical
ways of making and understanding painting. Each monochrome consists of
the maximum simplification of painting and the total elimination of the pictorial
gesture, reducing it to a rectangular shape and a single color. This simple form,
together with the use of bright and flat colors, makes the monochromes stand out
against the discontinuous and heterogeneous forms typical of urban space. The
Monochromes do not represent anything or speak of anything, but represents
and speaks for themselves. It enhances the idea of color as a perceptual
and visual experience, providing us with a place of calm. The monochrome is
understood as a work of X measures and X color that can be taken to different
places, maintaining its technical characteristics, but changing its concept and
connotations depending on its context. In this case, the work is carried out in
the urban space, but it can also be repainted and presented in the exhibition
space, confronting both places: the street as a space of artistic freedom, full of
information and accessible to all people; and the exhibition space as a white and
neutral place, limited to a type of work and a certain audience.<img width="6000" height="4000" width_o="6000" height_o="4000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/ca5a09acbd30b1154ca50ea970c9ea15cd81536f726313d080c7ba1921046c8b/DSC_8312.jpg" data-mid="187711895" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/ca5a09acbd30b1154ca50ea970c9ea15cd81536f726313d080c7ba1921046c8b/DSC_8312.jpg" />View of Blue and Green monochromes at Postgraffiti exhibition, Vigo 2020

(Clean city tour view at Espaço Mirá, Porto, Portugal)
In 2018 the city council of Porto was cleaning a lot of graffiti (a movement known
as Buffing) but just the ones that they considered ugly or “not art”, leaving intact
some other graffiti characters and murals that were made in the same ilegal way,
in part so the tourists could see the “urban art” around the city. Clean City Tour
is a piece in which I invite the viewers to do a tour around the Portuguese city,
guided by a map, where they could find some Buff paintings. This Buff paintings
are remade by me, using the same colors and shapes that the cleaners from
the city council create when they buff a graffiti. In this way, all the esthetics and
formal decisions of the painting are already made and I just reproduce them,
comparing the movement of cleaning graffiti with the graffiti itself and turning this
buffs into graffiti again.

Be an Abstract Artist comes from the same context as Clean City Tour. In this
piece I created a photo book that shows the graffitis around the city. The viewer
is invited to choose one of the stamps, one color and “clean” one of the graffitis in
the book. In this sense they have to make the same formal and esthetic choices
as the graffiti cleaners, chosen which graffiti deserves to stay in the book and
which should be cleaned.
